Nick Ellison

A photograph is a moment frozen in time. It is a record of what happened and how things were. The concept of time is central to my photographic work. From the choice of using film in a digital age to printing using 19th century processes my process reflects this.

I photograph primarily in southern Vermont where I live, examining the natural world and how we use and interact with the land. I use medium format, 8x10, and 11x14 cameras, printing primarily using 19th century processes.
